When AI Tells Your Life Story: Dr. Bill Schindler Meets His Digital Self

Imagine sitting down to be interviewed for a podcast and, before you even get a chance to speak, watching an AI-generated version of yourself tell the story of your life.

Not just what you do today.

Your history.

The work that shaped you. The questions that sent you down unexpected paths. The places you've traveled. The ideas you've spent decades exploring. And eventually, the winding road that led you to where you are now.

That's exactly what happened to Bill!!

Meet AI Bill

When Dr. Bill Schindler joined Keith, John & Friends for a recent podcast conversation, they had a surprise waiting for him: an AI-generated introduction chronicling his journey.

And we had absolutely no idea it was coming.

Suddenly, there was "Bill" on the screen - or at least an artificial intelligence interpretation of Bill - moving through different stages of a life we know incredibly well.

It was surreal.

There were moments that made us laugh, moments that made us look twice, and moments that were almost startling in their ability to capture something familiar.

But what impressed us most wasn't simply the technology.

It was the storytelling behind it.

How Do You Fit Decades Into a Few Minutes?

Bill's work today didn't begin with a restaurant.

It didn't even begin with food.

It began with archaeology and a desire to understand humans through the past. That curiosity eventually took him around the world, learning directly from traditional cultures and asking increasingly important questions about the relationship between humans and food.

Not simply what did our ancestors eat?

But how did they make food safe, nourishing, digestible and delicious?

Those questions changed everything.

They changed the way Bill thought about food. They changed the way we fed our own family. They became the foundation for Eat Like a Human. And eventually, they led us to build Modern Stone Age Kitchen — a place where those lessons aren't just talked about or taught.

They're put into practice every single day.

Wild sourdough fermentation. Nixtamalization. Fermented vegetables. Traditional fats. Nose-to-tail butchery. Properly prepared grains and dairy. Taking the wisdom embedded in traditional food technologies and figuring out how to make them relevant in a modern world.

That's a complicated journey to explain.

And somehow, before Bill ever said a word on the podcast, the team at Keith, John & Friends found an incredibly creative way to bring that journey to life.

Seeing Your Own Story From the Outside

Maybe that's what made the experience so fascinating.

Most of us don't think of our lives as a story while we're living them.

One decision leads to another. One question creates ten more. A career changes direction. An opportunity appears. Something fails. Something unexpected works. You meet someone who changes your thinking. You travel somewhere that changes your perspective.

And then one day, you look backward and realize there actually was a thread connecting all of it.

Watching an AI-generated Bill move through the major milestones of his life was funny and strange and technologically fascinating. But it was also unexpectedly meaningful. Because underneath all of the AI imagery was a very human story — one built over decades of curiosity, research, mistakes, travel, learning, teaching and an unwavering desire to better understand how humans are meant to eat.

And now, somehow, there's an AI Bill telling it.

We definitely didn't see that coming!

But Stick Around for the Real Bill

As entertaining and creative as the introduction is, the conversation that follows is the reason Bill was there.

The podcast dives into his research, his approach to ancestral foodways, the work we're doing at Modern Stone Age Kitchen, and some of the questions that continue to drive everything we do.

And yes, they get into spinach and oxalates.

If you've followed Bill's work for any amount of time, you probably already know that's where things get interesting.

We're sharing the AI introduction here because it was simply too creative — and too surreal — not to preserve.

But then we hope you'll spend some time with the real Bill, too.

And a huge thank you to the team at Keith, John & Friends for putting so much creativity and thought into introducing Bill and his work. We won't soon forget the first time we met AI Bill.
