  • Absolutely! That’s the beauty of making everything 100% from scratch. We control the process and the ingredients. Just let us know what you need to avoid and we’ll craft you something delicious - and healthy!

  • Yep! We do a long-fermented sourdough gluten-free sandwich bread along with sourdough GF scones. We also offer gluten free breakfast and lunch items. Read more here.

    At Modern Stone Age, we take gluten sensitivity and dietary restrictions seriously. While we are not a certified gluten-free facility, we do offer thoughtfully crafted gluten-free options made with care and integrity. Our kitchen is a shared space where traditional grains are used daily, including wheat for our sourdough bread.

    For those with celiac disease or extreme gluten sensitivity, we want to be upfront about the potential for cross-contamination. That said, we’re proud of our approach to using nutrient-dense ingredients and ancestral techniques to create the most nourishing gluten-free options possible.

  • Yes. We make peanut butter in-house plus we use pistachios for our pesto.

  • Set an alarm! You can reserve pies starting Friday at 8:00pm EST for the following week's Friday Night Pizza!

  • The mothers/levains for our sourdough breads ferment for 12 hours. Once mixed, our sourdough breads ferment for 6-10 hours depending on the breads. We make sure to reach a pH of 4.5 or below which is the ideal window for maximum detoxification, safety, and nourishment.

  • Currently, we are open 7-days a week in Chestertown.

    We are also at the Kent Island Farmers’ Market every Thursday 3:30 - 6:00pm

    We will be at the Centreville, MD Farmers’ Market on Sundays starting in Spring 2025!

  • All preorders are done through the store on this site. Simply add any desired items in the Shop page to your cart. (You can select the "Pickup" day in checkout!). Just remember that not all breads are available on all days!

  • Yes!

    All our products freeze very well wrapped tightly in plastic wrap. And unless you like sawing through blocks of ice, we suggest slicing bread products before freezing!

  • Yes, please! This saves us 3% on credit card fees and everything counts for our small family business!

  • Yes! Just our non-refrigerated items for now. But please contact us with any specific questions or requests!

    We take great care in crafting and shipping our made-to-order products to ensure they arrive fresh and delicious. Please review our shipping policies before placing your order:

    Order Changes & Cancellations

    • Once your order has shipped, no changes, cancellations, or modifications can be made.

    Shipping & Delivery

    • Orders ship via the best available method to arrive within the selected time frame.

    • Next Day or 2-Day shipping refers to transit time after shipment, not order placement.

    • Delivery dates are not guaranteed due to potential carrier delays or weather conditions.

    • Address change requests after shipment will incur a $15 fee per address and cause a 1-day delay.

    • Perishable items should be brought inside immediately—we are not responsible for packages left outside.

    Shipping Responsibility

    We do not issue refunds or reshipments due to:

    ✔️ Weather delays or carrier issues
    ✔️ Late retrieval of the package by the recipient

    Reporting Issues

    • Issues with delivered orders must be reported within 7 days of delivery.
